On April 19, The Alabama Constitution Campaigns and Elections Committee passed HB 209 to be debated on the Alabama House floor. On Thursday, 05/05, HB 209 passed out of the House.  


HB 209 criminalizes individuals and organizations who assist others with voting via absentee ballots. 

Reasons Why This is RIDICULOUS!

1.Voters should not experience challenges to casting their votes due to matters outside of their control such as being disabled, elderly, or visually impaired. 

2.Organizations and individuals who help these voters cast their votes via absentee ballot should not be charged with a felony offense.

3.Limiting civic participation for Alabama’s most vulnerable citizens is an attack on democracy and an attempt to silence Alabama’s increasingly diverse population.

We are calling on all State House of Reps to PUT PEOPLE FIRST and POLITICS ASIDE and VOTE NO ON HB 209!. Do not let this go to the Senate.  Alabamians deserve increased accessibility to the ballot, not more obstacles to cast their votes.
